Vegas del Genil is a small Spanish town in the province of Granada and many people who live out side of the country or even the province may not of heard its name before. But in the last few days it has found some celebrity across the worlds press with a story about the Mayor being forced to call in an exorcist after spooky goings on at the town hall.

It all started on 3 February when a council worker who wishes to remain anonymous felt a sudden drop in temperature whilst working late.

“It was unusually cold in the office so I put on my coat and then got up to go to bathroom, That’s when I heard a strange rustling sound in the hallway, like someone was dragging files across the floor.”

Thinking that he may have disturbed a burglar or other such miscreant he was fearful of turning on the light in case he was discovered, so pulling out his phone he decided to call the police, but for some reason known only to him he instead took a photo, isnt that what we would all do?……. The results of the photo can be seen below.

This like every other photo is lacking in any real detail but it does seem to my eye to show the crude form of a young girl, not that I’m saying this is any way paranormal and is more than likely a photographic error than a visitor from beyond the grave.

At first glance our intrepid worker saw nothing on the picture in the gloom of the hallway but when he returned to his office he then noticed what he saw as a figure. It is reported that this frightened the poor guy and locking himself in his office he did the only thing that can be done in this situation, he posted it on social media, specifically his office Whatsapp group. Thankfully a kind colleague saw his post and went to collect his shaken friend and take him to the spook free safety of his home.

So now fast forward slight to the next day, when other office workers start to complain about the cold spots around the office. I can only assume that word had gotten out and they had known about the story and I suspect that the power of suggestion had a part to play here.

Leandro Martín the towns Mayor and self described sceptic told the local press that “the whole thing has got out of hand. I am a sceptic. It’s not true that it is inexplicably cold. It is a collective psychosis.” and he took the sensible measure of calling in an engineer to take a look at the heating system just in case.

One of the office workers has since called in a local Reiki practitioner to conduct a cleansing ceremony in the affected hall way and she is said (of course) to have felt some sort of presence in there. But despite calls from some of the towns 10000 residents to call in a priest or some other type of exorcist the Mayor remains firmly unconvinced, saying that  “How can I justify hiring a medium when I have residents without electricity?”

As ever we welcome you comments and thoughts.
